Room Palette - Murphy Modern

The flooring arrived last night, WOOHOO! Hopefully we can get it finished up this weekend and start getting his room put back together - this has been a much longer project then I anticipated :)

I had so many ideas floating around in my head I put together a quick idea board so Tim and I could see the direction we were headed and hopefully make sure its is going to come out the way we want. Here is a little sneak peak at what I am calling Murphy Modern!

You can check my pinterest board to find the direct links if you want :) Basically the pillows and art are from etsy, light and rug from West Elm, Mid Century Modern Dresser from Craigs List, Bubble Chair from Amazon, rolling table from Urban Outfitters. Lots of re-purposed wood, and rusty yellow metal!
(of course this is a dream board... hopefully I can get the look for less!)

A fresh start in Townsends room

Tim and I decided it was high time for Townsend's baby blue and green striped nursery to get a face-lift! What six year old little boy still wants that in his room? So we got to work scraping down the stripes and applying FOUR (yes 4 ugh) coats of primer. To be honest, there are still some ghosts of the stripes lurking beneath the surface, but we were not about to re-texture all the walls!

just about the time we were finished with the priming we decided the carpet needed to go too...

and so now Townsend is sleeping in the play room, and I have a fresh slate and some BIG ideas :) Stay tuned!

 

Halloween Happenings

I am getting a little behind in my picture posting! So here are some Halloween pictures to catch-up!

I didn't do much decorating this year, but I did have fun doing this!
Now I just need to figure out how to change it for fall so I can keep it up through Thanksgiving!

The tables from our space themed Halloween Party! We set up a big movie screen this year, you can see it in the back! So fun.

Cami, Tyler, Tim and I before the party. The Boys were Men in Black and I guess we were funky space chicks! My camera ran out of batteries, so I didn't get to many photos of the party. But we had a great turn out and so much fun. Everyones costumes this year were hilarious, I will have to see if I can round up some photos of the actual party!

The kids and I went up to Safford with my mom to surprise the Baxters for Samantha's Birthday and Halloween. We had a wonderful time. Their neighborhood was the place to be! Solid trick or treater for over 2 hours! I think it was close to 500 kids... crazy!

Townsend and Province both got attached to this costume in the store... maybe because its soft and furry? So needless to say, T-money was a chicken this year. Pretty funny. He spent most of the night running around like a chicken with his head cut off (see he didn't wear the head part?). He wasn't a fan of trick or treating, but as long as he could run around he was happy!

Little Province was a witch. She had SO much fun trick or treating. She watched the kids come to the door for a while, and then she was ready to go. She walked up to each house with her little pail, said hello, and then waited for the candy. I loved that she got it! In between each house she would have to squat down and examine the contents of her pail to make sure it was all still there. The rest of the night she sat in a rocking chair and greeted all the trick or treaters at Tangies house. She had a great time!

Mary Mary Quite Contrary-

how does you garden grow? I love to garden. For those of you who have seen our back yard, I know this is hard to believe but someday it will be a beautiful place full of flowers, plants and bushes for me to take care of! My mom's dad was an amazing gardener, and I want to be just like him! Despite the backyard, I do have one small bed on the back porch I like to plant in. In addition I just got this beautiful new planter that Tim hung on the house for me. The weather has been so beautiful in the mornings around here, I finally got everything planted (Probably not the best idea 8 months pregnant- I am so sore!). We can see both the bed, and the box from our family room and master bedroom, I love to look out and see at least a little something beautiful! Can't wait for it all to grow in.

I heart my home!

My wonderful friend Ashley requested that her friends take pictures of their homes and post them on their blogs. I have been reluctant to do so, because nothing feels "done". Then I came to the realization, that if the house was "done" that would actually be boring and sad because I enjoy working on my home (and shopping!). So I took some pictures of my favorite close to "done" things. Its a start, and the rest of the house pictures will have to wait for another day. One thing for sure, I love my home and am so grateful to be in a place that makes me happy!

Where do I begin?

I have taken a serious break from my blog! Life around here has been very full the last few weeks. I think about blogging and then I just think, where do I start? So much I need to catch up on... Progress on the house, fun parties, work, my sister and her family in town, major kid happenings, a trip to Safford, Easter, just a busy few weeks! So, where do I begin? I guess oldest news first...

We have been working away on the house, I was hosting a Girls Night party at my house and it was great motivation to get things done. Remember the little pile of "soon to be laundry room cuteness"? Well its pretty much done, here are a few pics. I made that valence all by onesie... I can be proud of myself, right? We also got a lot done in the guest bath and our bedroom as well, but I still need to take some pics. So I guess those will be coming soon.
The Girls Night party was super fun. We use to play bunco together, but then we realized we only liked bunco because it was an excuse to get together at each others houses. So we stopped playing bunco and now we just have a girls night, we do all kinds of different things. I really enjoy it, its just great to visit and laugh and eat yummy food. I had a great time hosting and making dinner, I didn't get everything done I wanted, but still a great little party. I totally spaced on taking pictures, but it turned out really cute, nice and springy. Now I have another 14 months to enjoy everyone else's parties before it is my turn again!

Shopping!

I have been on a major shopping kick. I'm in "get things done around the house" mode. I am hosting Girls Night Out at my house this month, and so it helps with the motivation to get things done. What can I say, I work better when I have a deadline! Anyway, in order to get things done (and by done I mean cute of course!) I must shop, right? So the last week or so I have hit all my favorite places... Pottery Barn, Ikea, Restoration Hardware, Anthropoligy, the list goes on and on!
Here is a little pile of soon to be laundry room cuteness! Now I just have to get the sewing machine out and actually make all the stuff, curtains, basket liners, dog beds, you get the idea! Besides the laundry room, I have been working on my bedroom as well. I have such a hard time commiting to bedding (so I have been avoiding it) but I finally decided on this in the blue, and with solid sheets. Can't wait to get it all, and put together, I wll post pictures when I get it all done. So fun! Of course I couldn't do all that "house" shopping with out finding a few other things, so I endend up with this super cute shirt too! Now I think I better avoid shopping for a while and actually get some things done around here. Maybe I will even pull out the sewing machine today. I should get some work done on the computor but I would rather not, so we shall see!
