Room Palette - Murphy Modern

The flooring arrived last night, WOOHOO! Hopefully we can get it finished up this weekend and start getting his room put back together - this has been a much longer project then I anticipated :)

I had so many ideas floating around in my head I put together a quick idea board so Tim and I could see the direction we were headed and hopefully make sure its is going to come out the way we want. Here is a little sneak peak at what I am calling Murphy Modern!

You can check my pinterest board to find the direct links if you want :) Basically the pillows and art are from etsy, light and rug from West Elm, Mid Century Modern Dresser from Craigs List, Bubble Chair from Amazon, rolling table from Urban Outfitters. Lots of re-purposed wood, and rusty yellow metal!
(of course this is a dream board... hopefully I can get the look for less!)

Some Progress

We have made some progress on Townsends room... slower then I hoped, but progress none the less! The flooring was delivered and we got right to work, the only problem was we didn't quite order enough, so the closet isn't done and now we are waiting for another box to get delivered! In the mean time I have been taking care of sick kiddos (stomach flu going through our house - UGH! Thus, the picture of Province on the couch with her bowl) and scouring antique stores looking for the perfect items for Townsends room - I am so excited about the little pile accumulating :) Now if I could just find the extra $600 bucks for this chair!

White Chedder Mac and Cheese

Tim and I both LOVE the white mac and cheese form sauce...  We were chatting with the manager one time while we were there and (and after much buttering up asking politely) he gave me the basic this is what is in it/verbal recipe. So when I found this one and it sounded pretty close and I knew I had to try it! I tweaked it a bit: adding brown sugar in with the roux before adding all the cheese (because that is what the sauce guy told me to do!) and adding some shredded chicken in at the end. Tim and the kids loved it, I thought it was pretty good, but I think I might do some more tweaking next time, adding some sharper cheeses in :) But overall - very yummy white mac and cheese!

I also tried a new recipe with the rolls (you can see them in the back) and they were SO good and super easy! For sure adding this to my everyday line-up of recipes - try them! (I did sub melted butter for the oil, and I forgot to add the parmesan, and they were still great, but I won't forget the parmesan next time! haha)

(oh - p.s. Townsend's flooring is getting delivered today! I am super excited... I was hoping it would come in time to be this weekends project! Yipee!)

Mothers Day

Just thought I would share this little cake I made for my mommy :) lemon cake, lemon frosting, and lots of pecans... YUM! I had seen a similar idea for a birthday cake with a bunting banner floating around the web so I just made up this little banner, printed it on craft paper, hot glued it to ribbon and fastened to skewers... super easy and fun!

And of course... sending out lots of love to my own sweet mom and
Tim's wonderful mom (we love you and miss you)!

A fresh start in Townsends room

Tim and I decided it was high time for Townsend's baby blue and green striped nursery to get a face-lift! What six year old little boy still wants that in his room? So we got to work scraping down the stripes and applying FOUR (yes 4 ugh) coats of primer. To be honest, there are still some ghosts of the stripes lurking beneath the surface, but we were not about to re-texture all the walls!

just about the time we were finished with the priming we decided the carpet needed to go too...

and so now Townsend is sleeping in the play room, and I have a fresh slate and some BIG ideas :) Stay tuned!
