This little man has taken some serious strides the last few months. It has been so exciting to watch him learn and figure things out, we have seen such growth and of course with that comes some serious growing pains for all of us, but it has so been worth it! First, he is starting to use words! He is getting very good at mimicking almost anything and with prompting is requesting things he wants! Among my favorite things he says are: "I want to go outside" "tickles" "popcorn" and "bye bye". It is like the sweetest sound in the whole world to hear his voice (it literally springs a smile and no matter how many other ways he likes to torture me, I hear that voice, melt, and can't stay upset with him). His other huge accomplishment for the summer was learning what the bathroom is for! He still has a long way to go before he is potty trained, but he is starting to figure things out and I am so proud of him!
So, here we are at 6:55 this morning, his first day of Kindergarten! The bus comes bright and early and he was happy as could be and ready to go. I have to admit, I have really been looking forward to this, but to be honest I am kinda a mess. I am not sure if I should sit in the corner and cry, or run around the house doing a happy dance. I know he will love it, and I am sure they will love him. So all is well...

oh what a day sis! he looks so hansom for his first day of school!! I'm sure that the adventures of kindergarten are going to be so good for him! You could compromise and run around the house crying while dancing?

Hi, I just found your blog from Scrap Orchard (I'm a fan of your designs!) and just wanted to say how much I can relate. Our son, now 8, has autism and from reading a few of your posts about Townsend here, it just takes me back to those moments with our son. The first day of school...all of bittersweet milestones...the sound of their voice with their first words... It's certainly a roller coaster ride, but looks like he's doing great. Take care!
